Probably the biggest crisis currently facing humanity right now is climate change. We are consuming the Earth’s resources at an ever growing pace and not yet taking enough measures to keep the environment clean and balanced and more importantly work towards better alternatives and practices. We need to make a strong stand both on the personal and political front to reverse the current trends and embrace sustainability.
As a network of young and capable individuals, IYCN is growing into a body which can mobilize effort from Indian youth and youth oriented organizations to step up to the grave matter at hand and work towards addressing it by not only spreading awareness but also by trying to enforce policy changes to work for a cleaner and greener future. It makes a lot of sense that people coming together through networking platform like twitter, which is predominantly inhabited by youth and those still young at heart and in mind, should work along with another platform which has similar demographics who are taking up their roles as agents of change.
September 12th has been recognized as No Plastic Day in some parts of the world and people at IYCN are trying to spread the word to different kinds of people from school children to shopkeepers.
The Hyderabad chapter of twestival will raise funds to propagate this cause and educate everyone about the horrors of plastic and suitable alternatives. Do join us and help us spread the good word.
